putting clothes in a suitcase

Hi. Any suggestions here as to how to keep 2 sweaters that look alike coordinated with the right slacks? I have 2 turtle neck sweaters that feel exactly alike and I want to pack them to go on a trip.

When packing them simply roll the sleeves on one, and don't on the other.
Now all you have to do is remember the one you rolled the sleeves on.

A couple tips here:

1. If your suitcase has multiple pockets/compartments, put one sweater in one and one in the other, and just be sure to remember which is which.
2. As Wayne said, roll the sleeves on one and not the other. Hell, if you want to, turn one of them fully inside out and then, as I said before, just remember which is which. Doing the inside-out trick is something I've done a time or two, and it works well. Sleeves can be unrolled, after all, if someone searches your suitcase, but they're pretty unlikely to screw with something that's inside out and turn it right.

If this will be an issue with other clothes, you could consider labeling them. I know of people who buy different shaped buttons, so, circle for blue, square for red etc and sew them into their clothes.

Alternatively, you can make audio labels that can also go through the washing machine.

Though if you'll only experience this issue on the trip then the suggestions above should do :)

Good ideas with the sleeves. Thanks.

audio labels? how in the world do you do that? :p
I'm gonna label my clothes by color. I am not going mismatched. :p
oh yeah... anyone use sock sorters? if so, how do you use them?

Post 7 by Shepherdwolf (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Thursday, 17-Nov-2016 11:55:23

I don't personally use them, nope. Most of my socks are either the same colour, or else they have different textures.

Marilyn, there is an item called a Pen Friend, and there are probably others as well. Essentially you can use it to make a very short audio clip, then use the gadget itself to read the code and thus spit back the audio clip you made. Honestly, for clothes, I'd imagine that buttons/tactile labels of some kind are probably easier and quicker.

I just go barefoot. No socks to worry about. No shoes to match..

Yep, the penfriend has labels you can wash. I think it's pretty good if you want to record washing instructions. So you could record the colour of the item, but also instructions. This is good if you have delicate clothes that can only be hand washed, or washed on a specific setting.

I'm seriously considering buying one because I have so, so many clothes. And multiples of the same thing but in different colours.

If you'd like to both keep them separate and save space in the suitcase, do
this. Form your outfit, that is everything from your pants, sweater, underwear
and socks. Then, lay the pants out on a surface as if you were going to hang
them up. Then lay the sweater on top and fold the sleeves in so they lay flat, as
if you're going to fold a shirt. Then lay your socks and underwear on top of that.
then starting from the cuffs of the pants, roll them up. It will do a few things.
First, it saves a lot of room in your suitcase. You can put in so much more
clothes if you roll than if you fold. second, it keeps them from getting wrinkled.
No creases if you rol them up. Third, it gives you outfits. NO more digging
through the suitcase for pants to match your sweater. You grab one bunlde, and
you've got everything you need, panties and all. If you're like me and match
cologne with your outfits, you can even roll them around the bottle so it stays
protected. It made packing so much easier when I learned this trick.

I learned the trick or rolling when I needed to fly and didn't want to pay all these baggage fees.

Love the rolling idea. I sometimes use a tiny safety pin on a tag of a shirt or a beltloop for pants. Just quick and lazy for me.

quick, not necessary lazy. Efficient.

Wow did not even know I was looking for this advice until I found it. Some real good ideas here. Especially that rolling thing, that would have really come in handy this summer.

Wow Cody, that's an awesome idea and I'll remember that. I tend to pick my outfits I'm going to wear each day while packing so I will definitely remember this. :)

I've never thought of the rolling thing...that's a great idea!
what I usually do if I need to separate things is just clip a safety pen to one
object and not the other. If you have more than 2, you can always change the
location that the pen is stuck so you know which one it is. Also I was taught by
a friend to use them to clip sox together in the washing machine so you always
have pairs. When you put on a pair of sox just clip the safety pen to the inseam
of your pants/shorts/whatever your wearing.

I will try rolling instead of folding when I pack to go to convention.

Everytime I see the title of this, I think I'll b reading some juicy gossip about someone leaving home, or a bad relationship, or something! LOL

boy in a suitcase ...

That's some weird industrial shit right there but this title made me remember that song from 25 years ago.
It's on YouTube here:
